Spiders of Šipka National Nature Monument were investigated in 2013. Several usual capture methods (pitfall traping, seiving, sweeping and hand collecting) were used from March to October. Altogether, 106 spider species from 26 families were recorded. Most of the species can be assigned to common forest species. Several thermophilous species were recorded on the forest margins and on the margin of the limestone quarry. Agroeca proxima, Centromerus cavernarum, Sitticus penicillatus and Zodarion germanicum were the most important findings. S. penicillatus is classified as endangered species.
